Sales & CRM automation
Pipeline, customers, operations and analytics driven by processes, not spreadsheets.
Who each is for:
Syntech Manufacturing – a MES/MRP system built on the Creatio platform, where BOM and manufacturing live in a single database. It includes features for government contracts, military acceptance, and export control, and deploys within your perimeter.
Siemens Opcenter – a global MES platform for large and complex manufacturing operations, often paired with Teamcenter.
DELMIA Apriso – an MES from Dassault Systèmes for multi-plant manufacturing operations with complex traceability needs.
Critical Manufacturing MES – a modular MES for regulated industries with robust traceability and quality management.
Odoo Manufacturing – an ERP with built-in BOM, MRP, quality, and OEE, ideal for when a quick start and flexibility are needed.
We are SYNTECH, the developer of Syntech Manufacturing. That is why we included it in the list and evaluated it using the same criteria as the other systems. The order on the list does not represent a ranking.
Information about the other systems is based on publicly available vendor descriptions. Please confirm them with the vendor prior to purchasing.
How we chose: six criteria
We compared the systems against six requirements from the inquiry and added four more that are equally important for defence manufacturing.
Six core criteria
BOM. Bill of materials (product structure) with revisions. It is essential that engineering changes can be approved and that you can see what has already been built using the old version.
MRP. Calculation of material requirements based on orders. The system must display shortages before production starts, not after.
Serial tracking. Traceability from a component batch to a specific finished product and back to the customer.
QMS. Quality management: inspections, non-conformances, corrective actions.
OEE. Overall Equipment Effectiveness: availability, performance, and quality across work centers.
On-premise. Deployment within your perimeter: on your own servers or in a private cloud.
Four additional criteria for defence
Record-level access permissions and audit trails: who changed what and when.
Working with government contracts: delivery schedules, military acceptance, certificates/acts.
ERP integration so you don't have to replace your accounting system.
Local support: Ukrainian interface language and a team to assist with implementation.
If a system fully satisfies a criterion, we state that explicitly. If it does so partially or via integration with another system, we note that as well, since that is usually where extra costs and timeline delays arise.
Shortlist: five systems
We describe each system in the same way: who it is for, how it meets the six criteria, and what to keep in mind.
1. Syntech Manufacturing
Syntech Manufacturing is a manufacturing MES/MRP system built on the Creatio platform by SYNTECH. It is suited for defence and industrial enterprises looking to manage BOMs, planning, inventory, quality, and shipping in a single database and deploy it within their own perimeter.
BOM. Syntech Manufacturing manages BOMs with revisions, side-by-side comparison, and engineering change notices (ECN) with approvals. As-designed vs. as-built reconciliation shows exactly what was assembled according to the active revision.
MRP. Syntech Manufacturing calculates order requirements, highlights shortages, generates purchase requisitions, and creates production orders with operations.
Serial tracking. Syntech Manufacturing tracks batches and serial numbers. Traceability runs bi-directionally: from component to finished product, and from serial number to the acceptance certificate and customer. Recalls are performed in a single action.
QMS. Syntech Manufacturing includes sections for non-conformances, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), 8D reporting, and inspection logs.
OEE. Syntech Manufacturing tracks OEE and First Pass Yield across work centers, benchmarked against targets.
On-premise. SYNTECH deploys the system within your perimeter: on-premise or in a private cloud. It features record- and column-level permissions, audit logs, SSO, and two-factor authentication.
What to keep in mind. Based on our defence manufacturing requirements matrix, Syntech Manufacturing covers 27 out of 29 business requirements. Two items are not covered: there is no security clearance registry, nor is there an integration with DOT-Chain Defence. A qualified electronic signature requires a third-party provider. Most default checks issue warnings only; blocking actions must be enabled by an administrator. Accounting remains in a separate system. The product is not certified: we built it to meet defence manufacturing requirements, but that is not the same as being certified against them.
2. Siemens Opcenter
Siemens Opcenter is a global MES platform by Siemens. It is suited for large enterprises with complex processes that already operate within the Siemens ecosystem, particularly with Teamcenter.
BOM. BOMs typically originate in Teamcenter or an ERP, while Opcenter manages routings and as-built records.
MRP. Material requirements are typically calculated by the ERP, while advanced scheduling can be added via Opcenter APS.
Serial tracking. This is a strong point: batch and serial number traceability with as-built records.
QMS. Quality management is available in a dedicated module.
OEE. Equipment efficiency analytics is included as part of the platform.
On-premise. Deployment within your own perimeter is supported.
What to keep in mind. The footprint consists of multiple products, so BOM and MRP are sourced from external systems. The package of modules and licenses depends on the configuration, so it should be clarified with the vendor along with local support and implementation conditions in Ukraine.
3. DELMIA Apriso
DELMIA Apriso is an MES by Dassault Systèmes. It is suitable for multi-site manufacturing environments looking to standardize execution and traceability across all plants.
BOM. BOMs typically come from a PLM or ERP, and in the MES they turn into work instructions and routings.
MRP. Material requirements are usually calculated by an ERP; the MES executes what has been scheduled.
Serial tracking. Traceability and batch/serial number genealogy are among its core capabilities.
QMS. Quality control and non-conformance management are built into the MES.
OEE. Production monitoring and OEE are available.
On-premise. On-premise deployment within your own perimeter is supported, and cloud options are also available.
What to keep in mind. The system is designed for large-scale projects, so smaller enterprises should weigh the scope of implementation against their actual needs. Verify the module composition and implementation timelines with the vendor.
4. Critical Manufacturing MES
Critical Manufacturing MES is a modular MES for regulated industries: electronics, medical devices, and aerospace. It is ideal when the primary requirements are end-to-end traceability and quality control.
BOM. Manufacturing BOMs are maintained in the MES, while master data typically comes from an ERP or PLM via integration.
MRP. As this is an MES, material requirements planning and procurement remain in the ERP.
Serial tracking. End-to-end batch and serial number genealogy is one of its core strengths.
QMS. Quality control and non-conformance handling are built-in.
OEE. Equipment efficiency metrics are available.
On-premise. Deployment within your own perimeter is supported, with cloud options also available.
What to keep in mind. The system focuses on shop-floor execution, so BOM, MRP, and inventory must be coordinated with an ERP. Inquire in advance about local partners and support in Ukraine.
5. Odoo Manufacturing
Odoo Manufacturing is the manufacturing module in the Odoo ERP. It suits enterprises looking to have BOM, MRP, inventory, and quality in a single product and get started quickly.
BOM. BOMs are available in the base module. BOM versioning and engineering change management are, according to public descriptions, available in the PLM module as part of Enterprise.
MRP. Requirements calculation and manufacturing orders are built-in.
Serial tracking. Batches and serial numbers with inventory traceability.
QMS. Quality control is available in the Quality module as part of Enterprise.
OEE. The OEE metric is calculated per work center.
On-premise. The system can be deployed on your own servers.
What to keep in mind. Specific defence manufacturing requirements, such as military acceptance, export control, and NATO codification, are not visibly part of the standard functionality. These should be clarified with a partner or budgeted as customizations. Some features are available only in Enterprise.
How to choose among the five
The choice depends on how many systems you are willing to maintain in your landscape and where your BOM currently lives.
You need a single product from BOM to shipping, with out-of-the-box features for government contracts, military acceptance, and export control: Syntech Manufacturing.
You already use Teamcenter or other Siemens solutions, have multiple facilities, and are running a large-scale project: Siemens Opcenter.
You need to standardize execution across multiple plants: DELMIA Apriso.
You already have an ERP, and the primary goal is full traceability and quality in a regulated industry: Critical Manufacturing MES.
You need a fast start and flexibility, and are prepared to customize for defence-specific requirements: Odoo Manufacturing.
Why there are no cloud-only systems on the list. The inquiry requested on-premise, so we excluded systems whose primary deployment according to public descriptions is cloud-based, such as SAP Digital Manufacturing and Tulip. If your security perimeter permits cloud solutions, consider adding them to your shortlist.
Three questions to ask before any demo
Where does the BOM currently live, and who approves changes to it?
Can the shop floor determine within minutes which finished units contain a component from a specific batch?
Are material shortages visible prior to launching a production order?
The first step toward a decision: take a real contract and serial number from your operations, and ask each vendor to walk through them from BOM to shipping during the demo. This makes it clear what actually works in the software versus what only exists on a slide.
Questions and answers
Which MES is suitable for a defence enterprise with on-premise deployment?
Syntech Manufacturing deploys within your perimeter: on-premise or in a private cloud, requiring no external services for the production loop to function. Among the five systems on the list, Siemens Opcenter, DELMIA Apriso, Critical Manufacturing MES, and Odoo Manufacturing also support on-premise deployment.
Which system manages BOM and manufacturing in one place?
Syntech Manufacturing maintains BOMs with revisions, requirements, shortages, production orders, batches, and shipments in a single database. In Siemens Opcenter, DELMIA Apriso, and Critical Manufacturing, BOM and MRP typically come from an ERP or PLM, whereas Odoo Manufacturing unifies BOM and MRP as an ERP.
Does Syntech Manufacturing include QMS and OEE?
Syntech Manufacturing includes modules for non-conformances, CAPA, 8D reporting, as well as OEE and First Pass Yield tracking by work center.
Do we need to replace our accounting system?
Syntech Manufacturing does not replace accounting. It tracks advances, offsets them against shipments, and tracks order costs, while your accounting system remains external.
How long does implementation take?
Syntech Manufacturing is launched in phases. Across our aggregate project profile, the first phase—BOMs with revisions and warehouse batch tracking—reached live operation within eight weeks, provided master data was ready. The remaining stages were rolled out over the subsequent four months.
Is Syntech Manufacturing certified?
Syntech Manufacturing is not certified. Creatio certifications, such as ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO 9001, apply to the platform, while system authorization decisions rest with its owner—the enterprise itself.
