Which MES system allows managing BOM and manufacturing in one place?

An engineer issued a change, the routing sheet at the workstation remained outdated, and no one can tell exactly which product the new revision started from.

In brief: Syntech Manufacturing is an MES/MRP on the Creatio platform. BOMs with revisions, planning, shop floor, warehouse, and quality are managed in a single database, rather than in separate systems with a connector between them.

Demand and planning, purchasing, shop floor and warehouse, quality, contracts, and shipping all live in one place, while analytics shows where margin is lost and why deadlines slip.

One system, not an integration

Sales, purchasing, contracts, manufacturing, warehouse, quality, and costs reside in a single Creatio database. There is no connector between CRM and MES, no overnight synchronization, and no duplicate item master. The journey from an approved purchase requisition to receipt, bin storage, operation, quality inspection, and shipment runs without duplicate data entry.

BOMs: revisions and changes

The engineering data module manages:

• BOMs, recipes, and routings with revisions;

• engineering change notices;

• approved substitutes and alternate configurations;

• imports from CAD/PDM and Excel;

• actual standard labor times.

Revisions can be compared side by side, and change notices go through an approval process. Routings are versioned, and the operator sees the current valid version.

Planning from the BOM

Multilevel material requirements planning is calculated directly from BOMs. Orders can be split into batches, and purchase orders and requisitions are generated in a single action.

The ATP/CTP date appears immediately after confirmation. Before making a promise date, the system checks materials across all open orders.

The shop floor works with the same data

On the shop floor, the following are available:

• automated shift work orders;

• full-screen operator workstation;

• andon with escalation;

• WIP limits;

• OEE;

• "Digital Shop Floor" with a live view of production areas (currently view-only).

From serial number to revision

Scan a serial number, and you will see the BOM revision, component batches, supplier certificates, operations and operators, inspection results, acceptance certificate, and shipment details.

As-designed / as-built reconciliation shows the active revision and the justification for every substitution. For each unit, you can see configurations, as well as permitted and actual substitutions tracked by serial numbers.

What to ask any MES vendor

These questions are useful not just for our product:

• Does the operator at the workstation see the current valid routing revision?

• Does a BOM change require approval, and can revisions be compared side-by-side?

• Are material requirements calculated from the exact same BOM used on the shop floor?

• Can you view the revision, component batches, and justification for every substitution for a serialized product?

• How many systems and data exchanges sit between engineering data and the shop floor?

Ask them to demonstrate the answers on your own scenario.

You modify the system yourself

Creatio is a low-code platform: your administrators configure fields, business processes, pages, permissions, and reports without our help. Over 125 manufacturing settings are gathered on a single screen. Most new features are shipped disabled or in warning mode, so the plant enables them when ready.

Deployment is possible within your perimeter: on-premise or in a private cloud. The interface is available in three languages.

What we do not do

We publish this list deliberately: you will encounter every item on it during your first week of operation, and it is better to know now rather than during acceptance.

• The product has no certifications. We built it to meet the requirements of Ukrainian defense manufacturing, which is not the same as being certified under them.

• Accounting remains external. The module does not replace an accounting system.

• The mobile app does not support offline mode. For internet-free work, there is an offline package of recipes and routings that opens in any browser.

• "Digital Shop Floor" is currently view-only: launching operations from the plan and reallocating personnel are still in development.

• Creatio role names are in English only: the platform does not localize them.
